Review: LUSH Mask of Magnaminty

Acne is…irresistible. Well, at least for my skin! No matter how hard I fight it, it will eventually come back bringing a lot of friends. Maybe I have mentioned this before that my skin is actually getting immune of anti-acne properties in skincare – it actually fights back by producing more sebum which causes more acne, obvious as it is – therefore I cannot really use anti-acne products or treatments. Getting back to basic skincare is not very fun, you can’t get your whole acne gone in no time. But when I was on my holiday in Macao back there in July, I found a LUSH store there inside the Venetian shopping centre, and grabbed this raved-so-much product: Mask of Magnaminty, and I chose to give it a try!

And Its Obviously LUSH!
LUSH packaging is made of a thin plastic, but being thin doesn’t make the cap feels a bit loose instead of shutting very tight. To be honest the packaging is not very appealing to see it at the first place, but the labels and its originality, uniqueness, has its own fans (count me in, ofc!)

As for LUSH signature too, they will have this mini label having the name of the maker of this product, when was it made, and the expiration date. Don’t worry – the expiration date is like 3 months ago, I know – because today I’m not going to review an expired product because I’ve actually ended up this one thus I’m making an in-depth review about it.

Refreshing Scent from Herbal Essential Oil
When first opened the cap, you will quickly notice a fresh smell of peppermint and yes it has peppermint oil in it which cause tingling sensation during the wear session giving you the cold and fresh sensation all over your face, neck, and even back..

The cream is green in color, with noticeable rough, crushed adzuki beans in it. Texture is thick and creamy, it spreads pretty easy with just a little tug on your face. It will soon dry up and crack—if you smile or laugh a lot during the wearing time—before I finally rub it off with warm water after 10-15 minutes (longer than advised, I know!) and have no problem with the exfoliating properties. The adzuki beans exfoliates through your skin deep, but not harsh at all. It doesn’t cause my skin irritation at all instead of making it glows, feels so smooth and healthy just in seconds.

My Skin is Happy, So Am I
It looks similar to Queen Helene Mint Julep with less harsh exfoliator property, but I prefer this one as Mask of Magnaminty doesn't cause me breakout or tight feeling after wearing. I wear this mask 1-2 times in a week. My acne scars fade & lighten a bit, my small bumps and rough, dead skin are all banished away. Even though I apply the mask on irritated skin or acne also, Mask of Magnaminty doesn’t really cause harm to it instead of helping by calming it down. Wearing serum or moisturizer after this mask would really help for your skin to develop better too~

Mask of Magniminty comes in two sizes, this one I have is 125 g for MOP$90 or around $11. It’s quite a generous amount of mask, I finish this 125 g jar in 2,5 months. Indeed I’m happy with the result, and surely will repurchase as no scrub/exfoliator that has come so far not to irritate or cause harm to my skin unless this one.

Score

Last Words?
Mask of Magnaminty is definitely amazing. My skin is acne prone but also very sensitive to harsh product, but this one causes me a lot of goodness instead. The adzuki bean is not very harsh actually, and this mask gives tingling and cool effect which is relaxing, not the burning sensation! Thumbs up! One thing to notice if you’re allergic toward essential oils, you may want to consider more before buying because it has peppermint oil.

Haul: Dr.December

Hello! I’m back with a quick post of my late November-early December haul with all of you, please do comment below of the items that interested you the most for me to review first. I’m planning to post more on this month since this month may be the last month I’m less busy than the upcoming ones, so yeah say your wish now before I’m pulled back to the black hole XD

As usual this post is not and never about bragging, but I do find out some people (including me!) feel happy to see other’s purchase. I don’t know, maybe I just sound like a weirdo but…when it comes to your passion I believe nothing can be “too much” or “too many” in this case! Admit it that you love and would love to know what’s hot lately! Into the pictures, then!

My Instagram bio seems to have said it all, that I am literally a lipstick eater thus I own this many. Yep, all the lip products above were purchased in a month only…even though I end up not liking some. But I never really thought of buying that many actually, it just happened like, “Well…we got, erm *counting* eleven lip products this month. Amazing, dear my lovely babies. Lovable them all.” ………………...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
”WHAT, ELEVEN???”
That kind of moment. And feeling. Idk. Stop wandering around Maybelline's counter, I said to myself.

Essence Stay Matt Lip Cream 04 Silky Red

The Saem’s tint was from my beloved friend, Tata, she was kind for giving this to me when I visited Jakarta (and met up with her even for just some couple minutes) but also was EVIL for not telling me she was going to give me mini gift! I brought nothing for her, bad me! L She said the tint was her favorite so she wanted to share the love—and now I love it too. Yay~~

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick 107
Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick 109
NYX Matte Lipstick in Merlot
MAC Riri Hearts Mac Fall LE – Riri Woo

Shu Uemura the Lightbulb Foundation + Sponge (LE)
Maybelline Fit! Me Stick Foundation in 115 Ivory
Maybelline Fit! Me Liquid Concealer in 10 Light

Shu Uemura the Lightbulb was not a planned purchase, tbh. My friend had already told me about this foundation back there in October but I wasn’t interested like, at all. Ate my own words yet it attacked me back, I fell in love with it after trying it out. The best dewy foundation for my super annoying skin. Will review later, very soon okay!

Jordana Stick Blush in 07 Candy Apple
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk
Physician Formula ConcealRX Concealer in Natural Light

Review: Covergirl Lip Perfection in 400 Temptress

Covergirl is a best known drugstore brand from US for their fabulous LashBlast mascara series—which I sadly don’t have the chance to get them yet—but today I’m going to bring you another lovely gem of them: their Lip Perfection Lipstick!

I have four of them, and am admittedly going to review them one by one in separate post for a detailed review for each! Today I’m going to review my first: Temptress. Now let’s jump into the description of this lipstick, which was taken from its site:

Description
Bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.

Ingredients
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Isopropyl Isostearate, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Acetylated Lanolin, Ozokerite, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax / Cire De Candelilla, Paraffin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax / Cire De Carnauba, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetyl Lactate, Fragrance / Parfum, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Silk Powder / Poudre De Soie, Maltodextrin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Propylparaben, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Retinyl Palmitate, Mica. May Contain/Peut Contenir: Orange 5, Iron Oxides, Lauroyl Lysine, Titanium Dioxide, Red 27, Blue 1 Lake, Red 6 Lake, Red 7 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Carmine

Pretty Packaging!
The bullet is housed in a rectangular tube, with silvery-lilac color all over its body. The whole body of this lipstick was made of a sturdy, semi-matte yet a little bit reflective plastic material and cap shuts perfectly it has the “click” sound which we all love too (that feeling, remember?) At the bottom of the tube they have some kind of dummy—like NYX Round Lipsticks have—showing pretty accurate color of what this lipstick has and its various finishes.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick has total 48 shades in the range, varying from crème to frost, each has 3.5 g (.12 oz) of lipstick for $  and is available at Ulta, Drugstore, Target.

Pretty Vibrant Pink!
400 Temptress is a bright, light pink. It’s not a muted pink color for me, it’s has a gorgeous brightness to me it’s almost neon—pink that works on cool people, from the palest to the darkest. Having such a beautiful soft formula (but not the one that seems to melt too soon while stored in a hot place), Temptress glides on perfectly smooth on lips without tugging even Temptress is kind of lacking the creaminess of usual Lip Perfection Lipstick. The color payoff of Lip Perfection range is awesome, but Temptress for me is a bit sheerer than the others. It has a crème finish. Here’s an arm swatch of Temptress:

Left: 1 swipe | Right: 3 swipes

But
It stays for a decent time on my lips for around 3 hours before it starts to feel a bit drying on lips. I don’t know what’s wrong with this shade, but being that said Temptress is not very great compared to its siblings even though it’s a beautiful shade to have, and is wearable for day to night.

Score

Last Words?
Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks are so far my current favorite for drugstore choice of crème finish because they are mostly consistent in formula for their lipstick, but Temptress is a miss for me. It’s a nice shade and wearable, but the formula is unfortunately drier and not as moisturizing as the rest in the collection.

Do you have any of Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick? What shade(s) is/are your favorite? Share below, and see you soon! XOXO <3

Review: Yoki Eye Strawberry 20.8 mm in Red

I love my natural eyes, but I love wearing circle lenses too! Especially when I want to wear heavy eye makeup, I prefer to put on lenses to balance out the gorgeousness of my eye LOL but vice versa, circle lenses will still compliment your natural and simple eye makeup too. Common colors like blue, green, grey, brown…ah, they are really mainstream! But have you ever imagined red lenses for everyday wear? Do you think red is a little bit too much to work around with natural eye makeup? Ha, I can prove you wrong!

Yoki Eye Strawberry is the lens I’m going to review today! The brand name is not very familiar to me, but the ads were very cute so I agree when Dreamie Chuppa, my all-time favorite online shop of circle lenses, offered it to me. Now let’s see the product description, shall we:

Product Info
Brand: Yoki Eye
Type: Strawberry
Origin: Japan
Diameter: 20.8 mm (sure huge…O.o)
Color: Red
Water Content: 52%
Base Curve: 8.6
Duration: 6 months (disposable)
Availability in Prescription: Yes (from 0-800)

Coming in blisters packaging seems to be a unique signature (or standard? Will update about this later) of Japan lenses (like the one I reviewed here) and I love it as well! Sometimes vial packaging can get really rough and…hurting as well, like what just happened to my nail today when I tried to open my new pair of Geo lenses \(>< !!)/

The duration of these lenses are also shorter than regular Korean lenses—only a half of the Koreans’! I heard from an ophthalmologist that the shorter the duration of your contact lenses, the better & healthier your eyes will be. Storing and soaking them inside solution cannot kill all the bacteria that “get” and “stick” onto your lens’ surface, that’s why sometimes you feel itch or pain while putting on a quite worn lens. Therefore, basically…lenses with shorter duration are far better. Okay. One more point added for this lens! XD

As usual I got this in my prescription, which currently is -350 for both of my eyes and hoping for it not to add in any way.

P.S: I love my floral background and so do you and I hope it didn’t disturb you to see the original pattern and color of this lens clearly!

Color: ♥♥♥♥♥
Not true to the described color at all. It’s a PINK, definitely is. Even to look it inside the case, I would tell it’s a pink—obviously not red! The color is not very vibrant while worn on eyes too. People can tell you’re wearing red pink lenses, they won’t gasp like “meh…it’s pink?” but more like “wow, nice color you have there!”, thanks to the dark red-almost-black color that dominates the lens more than the pink does, only being like gradation and put behind the strong pattern lining (look at the both inside in lenses pic below!) The nice thing that puts one more heart for the color scoring is the yellow thin lines along the center area. The yellow would make a nice detail but not too overpowering there, yet it helps a little to blend the color of lens with my natural dark brown eyes.

L: Inside in | R: Inside out
Design: ♥♥♥♥♥
The overall design is actually very pretty; I believe it implies some kind of flower on the pattern. Despite the pretty design, I merely dislike the boldness of the pattern lining itself. It’s too dark, making this lens looks more forgiving while worn, that’s good, but from faraway you can barely see the pattern and the color—all just seem…what, blurred? It’s useless to have pretty floral design but you can’t really see it once it’s worn—unless people are within 45 cm near to your face.

pretty floral design!

Enlargement: ♥♥♥♥♥
Definitely the biggest lens I have so far! I love how it enlarges my eyes but not in a creepy way, it’s more wearable with makeup on though. The enlargement effect is nothing like 20.8 mm, won’t you be scary as hell if you have such a large iris, but I believe it’s around 17-18 mm. Compared to the 19 mm Komilook, Yoki Eye seems to be a little biiiit smaller. The outer limbal ring is thin; the reason why these lenses are big is because of their literally-big size.

no lens

with lens

L: with lens | R: without lens
both eyes with lens
Comfort: ♥♥♥♥♥
It’s surprisingly, very comfortable on my eyes. It doesn't hurt, no itch at all, and worn well on my eyes without eye drop up to 8-9 hours. Lovely how big lenses are comfortable, because I found my eyes are quite not fit lately for quickly & easily getting tired of wearing lens especially those with big diameter. Yoki Eye Strawberry is far, far more comfortable than Komilook Leopard Gray, in comparison of big circle lens' comfort.

Selca time! You do the judgement yourself, it's surely a beautiful pair of circle lenses but alas, the design is not very vivid from afar :(

please DO ignore the weird smile...okay, now you realize it

Yoki Eye Strawberry retails for IDR 140,000 or around $15, you can get it from Dreamie Chuppa, here’s their contact person:

Facebook: Dreamie Chuppa
Twitter: @depth_dreamie
Instagram: @depth_dreamie

Whatsapp/SMS: +628995693988

Score

Last Words?
Yoki Eye Strawberry is a pretty, decent big circle lens that is wearable for everyday use. Light makeup will do pretty well along, so no worries. Those with very small eyes might find it a little bit too big, but with dramatic lashes I think nothing could come as impossible anymore! Overall it’s great and very comfortable, but the color I got is just…not true to what it’s marketed to be.

bonus pic: a decent, happy smile! :D

So! Have you tried this lens? Would you give it a try? Lemme know in the comment section below, will be back again posting something in this blog tomorrow…or maybe, 2 days from now. Still busy even though the exam is already over now. Do share some love, XOXO <3

Review: Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Hussy

I MISS THIS BLOG. Period. My days were beyond busy & out of control, but finally I made it through! Phew! If you’re following my Twitter, I’m pretty much sure you already knew more and less about the reasons behind my absence—I made a little time to update there, make sure you’re following it in case I’m gone again in future LOL

To start posting again, I would love to review a product I bought back there in my self-birthday haul in June, and it’s from Illamasqua again!

Luxurious Exterior!
Not much to say about the packaging because its gorgeousness is clearly shown through the unique rectangular shape, eh? None of Illamasqua blusher has mirror housed at its lid instead of a clear plastic part with Illamasqua logo embossed on it, revealing the shade inside. I have no complaints of this, because I won’t bring my precious Illamasqua blushers on travel days! (You know how soft and buttery their blushes formula is, thus I won’t risk them by bringing them along.)

Caution: Hot!
Illamasqua Powder Blusher is my favorite blush formula, ever. The one that I would like to review today is Hussy, which is described as “bright candy pink” on Illamasqua’s site. The description seems to be true, even though it looks a bit darker on pan it’s actually a nice bright, playful pink which still has a tad of neutral-warm undertone even though the cool tone is stronger. Think of mixing hot pink and coral pink color, if that makes sense! I proved it anyway, by finding out this unique color slightly changes under different lighting, it can look warmer or cooler depends on the lighting over the room you’re being at. It has matte finish of which I love Illamasqua powder blusher’s formula the most. Buttery texture, easy to blend, soft and smooth both in pan and after done applied on face, even buildable! Oh, too lovely to be true.

swatch on my inner arm (1 swipe)

Stays Forever!
For the staying power, how can you doubt Illamasqua? Naked Rose, being a light pink color I once reviewed here, stays for 9-10 hours on me before I put my makeup off. Hussy performs the same—even better, being a darker color—I never tried it out above 10 hours but it sure stays pretty and no signs of fading during the wear.

oh, so pretty pink!

Another selca~~
Illamasqua Powder Blusher retails for 18 at Illamasqua.com and ASOS, I got mine from Make Up Brush in case you’re wondering which Indonesian online shop opens pre-order for Illamasqua product!

Score

Last Words?
Hussy is a pretty, playful pink color with a little of warm undertone. It’s the candy pink color which will work almost to everyone, even those with warmer complexion! Its formula and staying power are beyond lovely as stated above, but always remember to use gentle brush with your Illamasqua Powder Blusher as it’s super soft, make sure to tap off the excess too—you won’t want to end up looking clownish, will you? This is your perfect spring & summer shade!

***

Have you tried or owned any Illamasqua Powder Blusher? Interested to try out Hussy? I will update this blog more and more (even though I am now having my final exam for this semester LOL but who cares, I miss my blog for awhile already) so stay tuned!

Did You Know?
I’m thinking to get back vlogging again! Fall makeup, anyone?
Black Friday is 2 days to go! Have you listed down anything you want? Do list down—don’t go over the budget. I’m saving for the year end sale too!

Tag: How Much Will Your Face be Worth of?

From the title, to the content! Yep, today I’m doing a tag to all beauty bloggers (or any bloggers, feel free to do the task too! It would be fun!) to answer some question I popped here. Let’s start with the reason why I make this tag:

Nobody hates shopping. Who hates splurging on self, especially when money is still a lot after spending some for monthly expense plus saving? Some think it’s not a really good idea to shop around too much even you get money in your hand, but some say it’s okay to splurge on yourself—treat yourself well, if not, who would?

And not only once, I believe, for us to feel guilty of what you’ve bought in the name of “treating myself”. Me too, I feel guilty sometimes after spending lotsa money. But since I managed to work hard for my own money, the guilt can be suppressed a little bit! Now, I want to ask you these questions:

1. Have you ever gone over the budget limit which has been set for yourself?
2. Share with me your worst guilt feeling ever, after spending—oops, splurging—money for your beauty items! (including skincare sets, toiletries, etc.)
3. How much do you think you will be worth of if you get more money than what you’ve got today?
4. New arrivals or discounted items?
5. Repurchasing or trying out new launched items?
6. How would you manage your money to buy things of your dream?
7. Do you think someone’s haul represents the personality of the buyer? Why? What do you think of a “haul” post actually?
8. After answering all the questions above, how’s your feeling now? Do you have any self commitment? What is it—or what are they?

Think that’s all! Now let me answer my questions first:
  1.  Sometimes! I never really set down the limit for numbers of which I will spend, but I’m really considering of making one now. Believe me, if you don’t set the limit, you will go over the limit, like, every time.

  2.  When I did my self-gifting birthday haul here, it was all Illamasqua, and I really went broke back there. It wasn’t cool or awesome, but when the items arrived at least I felt a liiiiiitle bit better, by getting what I really paid the price of. I promised myself not to fall further into the Illamasqua addiction, but how on earth could that happen when all their products are GUH-REAAAT? Plus, whenever I happen to make one item on my wish list mine, there will always be thousands more waiting to be owned. I think that’s everybody’s problem, right?

  3.  Maybe I will splurge more on skincare items. Trying out like, one set of Paula Choice’s special acne care set. I don’t happen to love high-end brands, but I’d love to try some lipsticks or highlighters from them. And, Japanese makeup items please! Cute and great, but…expensive as well. Sometimes.

  4.  DISCOUNTED ITEMS. And this is, to be very honest, the reason why I never actually happened to grab that PC’s acne care set because they never actually been on sale LOL. I love discount, reduced price, and who doesn’t? But my obsession against discounted items are worst than the one against new arrivals. I love grabbing things at their best price—in my very own liking—and, if the price is really dropped down to ground, I will never, ever, think twice not to get it. I live by the famous economical law; “pay less for more”. DON’T LIVE THIS WAY, I guarantee it feels good but it kills you to see this “%” symbol.

  5.  Nah finally it comes to the hardest question—at least for me. I would answer “repurchasing”, but in fact what I do is to buy new arrival items. I should really repurchase, and I note this down so I won’t spend money on things I still don’t know the performance! (especially my skin is very sensitive, I should stick to the things proven to work good with it, right?)

  6.  How I manage? To be honest, I don’t manage! I buy things soon as possible, or when I have no money atm, I would list down which to buy first and which not. And still, referring to the point no.4, the list is not very permanent—meaning, I will get those in sale first instead!

  7.  Nope. We will never know how’s someone personality and intentions by what they really show off. Don’t have snap judgment on people; there are many positive issues from posting a haul post. For me, haul post is a measurement I use to know how much I’ve spent for my own items. Be sure not to do the same thing again next month if things went over limit—but well, the regret never works wonder on me LOL. Plus, readers will know of what’s hot this season and some people find haul post as a “self-excuse” for them not to feel guilty by spending so much money for their own—there are people worse than me, eh.

  8.  YES I FEEL SO GUILTY. I’m still a high-schooler, and to be honest my very own expense especially in beauty items is always more than I could need. I would like to re-arrange and to manage my money better in future, which I hope I could do very soon. Even all the money I spend on my haul were all made by my own self, I really do feel guilty. Of those I could save, I spent them instead for things I should’ve saved for next times. It’s not very easy when it comes to commit, but I really wanna be better in managing money. Women are meant to handle not only their own selves expense, but later on most of us should really do the financial planning for our family. Remember that things are not always going smooth and as what we expect them to be, sometimes it takes the deepest fall before the highest arise. Be wise to use your money!

I realize I’m no any wise, but I want to be wiser in terms of using money. Those spent will never come back the same, and you’ll never know when you would need some exact amount for emergency situation—unexpected ones, too. I hope this tag post is interesting for you to do. Don’t worry, don’t feel bad about yourself for never really splurge for self or have you been splurging too much—we can get through this thing together! Life’s not getting any easier, so prepare yourself a better future start from now on. Let’s do it together, you and I!

Here are some tips to handle “over budgeted” personal expense from me:

  1.  List down the things of your dream, and start striking the lines on those you don’t really want. Stop saying “I will strike the lines on those I don’t needLIE! You will feel that all written down on the list are needs, and they have to be fulfilled soon. Determine which you really want, and which actually just a “one second need” is. You know which, I believe!

  2.   Split your money into two bank accounts. Never mix them up—you will never have ending wish list if you do so. By splitting the money into a new shopping-targeted account, you will realize how much you’ve actually spend on things an hopefully, you won’t take any from the saving “saving” account to buy more things!

  3.  Work Hard, Play Hard. This line was taken from a great song by David Guetta ft. Ne-Yo & Akon. If you wanna shop hard and play around with the new stuffs, start working your bones hard too. If your lifestyle and standards have been set high, it’s harder to set them down so you better work harder to fulfill them. Let the wish list be the cheerleader at work!

  4.  Start browsing online, and subscribe for website’s newsletters. I know this is not really a good idea since you will have more chances and excuses to shop more, but you will not miss the latest promotions the website have—time to fulfill the wish! And let the newsletters, new products information will not only be a heavy burden for you to stop shopping, but let them be the cheerleader too for you to work hard!

Phew! Finally the post is over, so time to share your thoughts down below. Is it yay or nay, do you agree or disagree with the tips I shared above? I’d love to hear your experiences and thoughts too, so please share the links to me after you’ve done this tag in the comment section below. Please attach the first picture of the post too! Have a great day, and XOXO!
